The Old Odeon, Colchester
Stanley Bragg Architects were appointed to redesign a scheme for the conversion of an existing building in the centre of Colchester.
The existing building has been vacant for many years and is a ‘locally listed’ building of heritage interest, mainly relating to the front building range for its architectural interest and is adjacent to a Grade 2 listed building to the west.
The proposal is to reinstate the façade detailing and provide ground floor commercial activity, convert the upper levels of the front building range and add an additional storey of residential in a new roof construction. The rear auditorium building is to be demolished and rebuild a car park with multi floor residential building above.
