SBAL won a design competition to produce a masterplan for a building conversion and new build development within Ipswich.
The existing office block remains the dominant building within the site and the challenge is to integrate this within the two adjoining plots, so that it reads as a cohesive and identifiable development. This is being achieved by introducing bricks being used in the new dwellings into the office block, together with metal fret work.
Pedestrian and vehicular movement through the site and to the adjoining park influenced the final masterplan.
