History of the Practice

In 1948, following early career appointments with architectural concerns in London and Essex, together with a spell of war-time service in the Middle East, Stanley Bragg set up a small Practice in Chelmsford.

Stanley Bragg’s enthusiasm and flair for communicating with his Clients led to an ever growing number of commissions, including winning a project opportunity for a new factory in Chelmsford. This project sparked a whole new generation of growth for the Practice and in the next two decades commissions were gained throughout the UK and overseas.

At his retirement in 1978 Stanley Bragg was able to look back on 30 years of growth and change to the Practice, but he could also look forward and see that the ethos and traditions would be pursued in the decades ahead.

From 1985 Stanley Bragg have occupied Abbeygate One. Formerly home to a clothing factory, Stanley Bragg’s studios are located on the first floor where the elevated position affords views across the town and the high trussed ceiling provides an airy and distinctive studio in which to work and receive clients.
